The chick was visible from the beach at low tide today. A food exchange came in at 6:24p

The chick posed for the cameras today separately with Dad and then Mom. There were a couple pelican chases, but the winds were pretty calm and not many came by. Dad brought in food for an exchange at 6:04p. Mom dropped it, and they both dove to recover it. I missed the recovery, but Dad apparently got it off the beach and they did another transfer within seconds.

Food exchange sequence. Mom drops the first attempt, and misses grabbing it as it bounces off a cliff ledge. Dad retrieved it (out of the frame, unfortunately) and they did another transfer. Total time elapsed in this sequence - 7 seconds!
