Peregrines at Torrey Pines State Beach : April 20-23 2021
April 20, 2021
It was a breezy day, and a visiting sub-adult was soaring over the cliff and repeatedly dive-bombing the nest site. The female would come out and chase it every now and then, and they would zip all over the sky. The visitor was still around when the male showed up, and while I didn't see them engage, they both drifted off soon after. Around 6:15, the male presumably brought food, but the female must have intercepted him around the corner of the cliff - she already had the food when they came in sight.
I finally got the upgraded Canon 100-400mm L Mk II and did some comparison shooting today. I should have gotten the lens much sooner! All photos were with the Mk II unless noted.
It was mostly cloudy with poor lighting. Of course a food transfer would occur while I had the old Mk I lens on.
