The male brought in some food and the female intercepted it right in front of the nest. She then got down to feeding the two chicks.

An eared grebe stole the show this afternoon. It may have been worn out from the surf, and was preening itself at the waterline. It seemed unconcerned by people walking by, nearly stepping on it in some cases. One helpful person moved it up away from the surfline, but after a few minutes it waddled back to the beach and resumed preening.

It turns out the falcons have 4 chicks this year. This afternoon they were busy feeding them. Other photographers said the male did two food deliveries since 3p, and a third just as I was getting there at 5:30p. Not 15 minutes later, he was back with a 4th kill!
